On Friday, October 30, in that oh-so-Houston way of blending cultures and traditions, we'll be merging the Greek mythological kingdom of Hades and Persephone with the Mexican tradition of Day of the Dead in the first ever "Journey to the Underworld." We're expecting a big crowd for this event and have arranged for face painting for grownups, astrologers, Tarot readers, some periodic surprises including one very unique and event-appropriate photo booth (no spoilers!) and a costume contest for the best representatives of the land of the dead with some outstanding prizes, one of which you will just die for. (Sorry. That's not funny.)
Where: Myth Kafe (1730 Jefferson Street)
When: Friday, October 30 from 7PM to 11PM
As special incentive to get you to SIGN UP EARLY, we are offering Myth Kafe T shirts and/or customized zombie portraits for the first fifty registrants.
Tickets include all of the events happening in the booths and during the party as well as a trip through the banquet table, pita and hummus throughout the night, and three complimentary drinks (beer, wine or soft drinks) with extra drinks being available for purchase at a very reasonable cost. Ten percent of the evening's proceeds are going directly to the East End Foundation, a nonprofit group with the mission "to celebrate the unique history, culture and neighborhoods of the East End by strengthening the area's cultural and educational organizations, and to develop opportunities for residents to participate in cultural and educational enrichment activities."
Don't miss the boat. Purchase early for $75. Door entry is $80.
