Piñatafest Returns to Houston's East End for Cinco de Mayo

East End Foundation is thrilled to announce the 2nd annual Piñatafest for Saturday, May 5th, 2018 on the iconic Navigation Esplanade in Houston's ecclectic East End. Piñatafest celebrates the ancient cultural tradition of piñata-making and its long-lived presence throughout Houston's 2nd Ward. The event will showcase sculptures inspired by traditional piñatas, family-friendly activities, crafts, live music, and a variety of local street vendors.


Artists are invited to submit proposals for the sculpture exhibition which will include awards up to $1,800 and a stipend. Entries and exhibition will be juried and curated by Maureen Penders (FotoFest International), Patricia Restrepo (Contemporary Arts Museum Houston), and Galveston Arts Center curator, Dennis Nance.

The festival is presented by the East End Foundation 501(c)(3) in partnership with Houston Arts Alliance, City of Houston, Houston First, and the Greater East End Management District.
