Call for Artists

Piñatas on the Esplanade invites creatives and makers to construct sculptures inspired by the tradition of Piñata making. The Piñata Festival’s vision is to celebrate Houston’s connection to folk art and funk as well as neighborhood cultural traditions.

Artists are invited to submit proposals for the sculpture exhibition which will include awards up to $1,800 and a stipend. Entries and exhibition will be juried and curated by Maureen Penders (FotoFest International), Patricia Restrepo (Contemporary Arts Museum Houston), and Galveston Arts Center curator, Dennis Nance.

The festival is presented by the East End Foundation 501(c)(3) in partnership with Houston Arts AllianceCity of HoustonHouston First, and the Greater East End Management District.
